Vera the Black Rose
About
Black Rose Vera is set in the turbulent 15th-century England, following the legendary journey of Vera, a peasant woman fleeing domestic abuse. Caught in the power struggle between the fallen Lancaster dynasty and the ruling Tudor dynasty, she sneaks into the royal palace with the Lancaster Chronicle that holds the truth of the usurpation. She befriends Queen Isabella, who conceals her royal identity, through sword sparring — they become each other’s only unguarded confidants. Sebastian, leader of the Holy Blood Order, uncovers her secret and coerces her into spying in the palace; romance sparks between them amid constant probing and tension. When Regent Valentine colludes with the Ross Empire to seize the throne, Sebastian forms a temporary alliance with Isabella to fend off the invasion. Yet at the moment of victory, the suspicious queen stabs him from behind. Vera breaks all ties with Isabella completely. She eventually departs for the New World with the loyal assassin Silas and the twin princes, leaving the queen alone on the throne. Two years later, Isabella resolves to set out and bring her back in person.
